Mix-and-Match Filtration: A Guide to the Sicce Shark PRO Internal Filter

Running separate biological, chemical, and phosphate-removal stages usually means separate media compartments — the full-size Shark PRO's modular design lets you mix and match cartridges in one unit instead. Three body sizes and a full set of purpose-built cartridges cover mechanical, biological, chemical, and phosphate filtration.

Why Modular Cartridges

Different tanks need different combinations of filtration — a reef tank fighting phosphate needs different media than a planted tank needing extra biological capacity. Shark PRO's cartridge system lets you configure exactly the combination your tank needs rather than being locked into one fixed media type.

Choosing a Size

  • SHARK PRO 500 — 132 GPH — the smallest in the full-size Shark PRO line, for smaller tanks still wanting the modular, magnetic-mount design.
  • SHARK PRO 700 — 185 GPH — steps up flow for medium tanks needing more filtration capacity in the same modular format.
  • SHARK PRO 900 — 238 GPH — the largest in the line, for larger tanks needing real filtration capacity from a compact internal unit.

Cartridges and Modules

  • Hyperbio Pearl Cartridge with Sponge — dedicated biological media alongside the mechanical sponge stage.
  • Zerophos Cartridge with Sponge — chemical phosphate removal alongside mechanical filtration.
  • Carbon Cartridge with Sponge — chemical filtration alongside mechanical filtration.
  • Module with Sponge — adds extra filtration capacity for tanks with a heavier bioload or more debris.
  • Sponges (replacement set) — restores the mechanical filtration stage once the originals clog.
