The Regal line is Reef Octopus's hybrid conical DC skimmer platform — a body shape distinct from the Super Cone, paired with the same VarioS variable-speed pump control. Regal spans five sizes from 150 to 300, each available in standard in-sump and Space Saver bodies.
What Sets Regal Apart
Regal's hybrid conical body takes a different approach to bubble management than the Super Cone shape used in the Elite line, giving reef keepers a genuine design alternative rather than just a size choice — both run VarioS DC pumps, but the body geometry differs.
Choosing a Size
- Regal 150 — rated for aquariums up to 211 gallons, running a VarioS-2S pump.
- Regal 200 — rated up to 400 gallons with a VarioS-4S variable-speed pump for tunable air-to-water ratio.
- Regal 220 — rated up to 500 gallons where sump space isn't a constraint, running the newer-generation pump platform.
- Regal 250 — steps up to a 36V VarioS-6S pump, handling 300 gallons at heavy bioload up to more at lighter stocking.
- Regal 300 — the largest in-sump model in the Regal line, rated from 500 gallons at heavy bioload up to 740 gallons.
Standard vs. Space Saver
Every Regal size ships in a standard in-sump body or a Space Saver (SSS) body for narrower compartments, using the same pump platform and rated capacity either way.
Setup Tips
- Match size to your actual bioload, not just tank volume — heavier-stocked tanks should size toward the lower end of a model's gallon range.
- Start the VarioS pump at a moderate speed and adjust based on foam production.
- Break in gradually, expecting some microbubble overflow in the first 1–2 weeks.
