DINO X 1000 ml

DINO X is Fauna Marin's liquid algicide formulated to eliminate dinoflagellate and gold algae outbreaks in saltwater reef aquariums without harming corals, fish, or invertebrates when dosed correctly.

• Dose: 5 ml per 100 L (26 US gal); up to 6 ml per 100 L for heavy outbreaks
• Redose every 2 days — roughly 10 doses for dinoflagellates, ~15 for other nuisance algae
• Dose in the evening, 1 hour after main lighting shuts off; keep main lighting under 6 hours/day during treatment
• Run the skimmer wet, 24/7, throughout treatment
• Suspend trace elements, mineral salts, amino acids, SPS food, and Balling Trace B during treatment
• Pause GFO/PO4 removers, ozone, and carbon media during treatment
• No water changes until 1 week after the final dose

Dinoflagellates photosynthesize, so DINO X is timed to hit them right after their light-driven metabolism shuts down for the night — dosing while zooxanthellae are still active would waste product on cells that aren't vulnerable yet. Halting nutrient exports during treatment (GFO, water changes, trace dosing) also matters: it starves the outbreak of the resources it needs to rebound between doses.

Compatible with: Follow with Fauna Marin Carb L after the final DINO X dose to restabilize the system. Not for cyanobacteria — use Fauna Marin Red X for that.
