DINO X 500 ml

Fauna Marin DINO X is a coral-safe liquid algicide formulated to eliminate gold algae and dinoflagellate outbreaks in reef aquariums, in a 500 ml bottle sized for larger systems or extended treatment courses.

• Standard dose: 5 ml per 100 L (26 US gal) of aquarium water
• Heavy infestation dose: up to 6 ml per 100 L (26 US gal)
• Re-dose every 2 days; most dinoflagellate outbreaks clear in about 10 doses, other nuisance algae in about 15
• Dose in the evening or 1 hour after main lighting shuts off, with the lighting period capped at 6 hours/day during treatment
• Not effective against cyanobacteria (use Fauna Marin Red X instead)

Why it matters: Dinoflagellates photosynthesize on a different cycle than coral zooxanthellae, so dosing after lights-out lets DINO X target the algae while leaving coral tissue undamaged when used as directed. Running a skimmer wet and continuously during treatment improves results by exporting the toxins released as the algae die off.

During treatment: Skip water changes, trace element dosing, mineral salts, amino acids, SPS food, GFO/PO4 removers, ozone, and carbon until one week after the last dose.

Dosing companion: Run Fauna Marin Carb L immediately after the final DINO X dose, per its label instructions, to help stabilize the tank post-treatment.
