Reef Octopus eSsence S-130 Protein Skimmer

The Reef Octopus eSsence S-130 Protein Skimmer is a compact in-sump design built for hobbyists who want strong skimming without dedicating much sump real estate to it. Rated from 75 gallons at heavy bioload up to 160 gallons at light bioload, it runs the efficient Aquatrance 1800s pump at just 11 watts.

• Noise: up to 12% quieter than standard silencers, plus a 360° submerged output for splash-free discharge

The click-dial adjustment is a small but useful detail — instead of guessing at a valve position, you set a numbered step and can return to it exactly after cleaning.
