The Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus) is a slender, striped fish famous for running "cleaning stations" where it picks parasites off other reef fish. It's a fascinating natural behavior to watch, but it's also a genuinely difficult species to sustain long-term in captivity, since it relies heavily on a steady supply of parasites and fish slime that most home aquariums can't provide - many specimens slowly starve even when eating prepared foods.

• Adult size: Around 4-5 in.
• Diet: Carnivore - parasites and mucus from other fish in the wild; acclimating to prepared foods is difficult and not guaranteed.
• Temperament: Peaceful, active swimmer.
• Reef compatibility: Reef safe, but considered an advanced, higher-risk species best suited to large, well-stocked systems.
