The Flame Hawk (Neocirrhitus armatus, Tahiti origin) is a vivid orange-red hawkfish that perches motionlessly on rockwork, watching for its next meal before darting out to grab it. Hardy and full of personality, it's a hobbyist favorite for adding color without demanding much.

• Adult size: Around 3.5 in.
• Diet: Carnivore - meaty foods, small crustaceans.
• Temperament: Semi-aggressive toward other hawkfish; otherwise generally peaceful.
• Reef compatibility: Reef safe with corals, but may eat small ornamental shrimp and tiny fish.
