Reef Octopus LR-150 Light Reactor

The Reef Octopus LR-150 Light Reactor is a dedicated macroalgae growing chamber, built around a 6-inch body for cultivating chaetomorpha or similar refugium algae as a natural nutrient export method. Growing macroalgae under its own light on a reverse photoperiod from the display pulls nitrate and phosphate out of the system while helping stabilize pH swings overnight.

• Best for: reef and mixed saltwater systems 50 to 150 gallons

• Use: pairs with a compact light (sold separately) run on a reverse photoperiod from the display for natural nutrient export

Running the light reactor opposite your display's photoperiod is the key technique here — while the display lights are off and pH is naturally dropping, the macroalgae chamber is lit and photosynthesizing, helping buffer overnight pH swings.
