SRO 5000ext Recirculating External Protein Skimmer

The Reef Octopus SRO 5000ext Recirculating External Protein Skimmer moves the SRO 5000 platform outside the sump, recirculating water through the Bubble Blaster HY-5000s pump via a max-injection venturi system for drier, richer skimmate. Because it's a recirculating design, it requires a dedicated feed pump rated at 1.5-2x system volume (roughly 800-1100 GPH suggested).

• Bioload capacity: 300 gallons (heavy), 500 gallons (medium), 600 gallons (light), excluding sump
• Setup: external, recirculating — requires a separate feed pump (max feed rate 1,200 GPH)
• Pump: Bubble Blaster HY-5000s pinwheel pump, 45 watts
• Features: refined hybrid half-cone body, oversized collection cup with drain, bubble dispersant plate

Because this model needs its own feed pump rather than pulling directly off the sump return, plan for that additional pump when budgeting the install.
